Gordon Farquharson

Gordon is the VP of Sensor Systems at Capella Space. Gordon has 27 years of experience in radar design, construction and operation, and in the analysis of microwave radar data for atmospheric, oceanic and land measurements. He worked as an engineer at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, CO from 2004 to 2009, where he developed microwave and millimeter-wave radars for atmospheric research. In 2009, he joined the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington (APL-UW) as Principal Investigator. At APL-UW, he focused on developing microwave radars and algorithms to extract geophysical parameters from remote sensing radar data for programs funded by ONR, NASA, NSF, and DARPA. Gordon received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. There he developed techniques to retrieve nearshore ocean wave and current estimates from microwave radar data.
