Capella's scheduler runs every 20 minutes, typically on a rolling 7-day window. Your request will be evaluated and scheduled once your window open date falls within that horizon.

How Does The Tasking System Work?
Submit acquisition requests through Capella Console or API specifying your area of interest, collection type, imaging window, and collection tier. Requests remain in "submitted" status until your window open date enters the scheduling horizon, at which point the system provides definitive acceptance or rejection. Once accepted, collects are scheduled and automatically executed.
What Are Collection Tiers And How Do They Work?
Collection tiers denote the importance of individual tasking requests for scheduling. Urgent tasks are evaluated first for time-sensitive situations. Priority allows precise discernment between similar requests. Standard provides assured collection upon acceptance. Flexible is ideal for opportunistic collection. Routine (exclusive to Repeat Tasking) receives highest importance for regular cadence monitoring. Each tier, except the Flexible tier, has a "No Bumping" policy meaning accepted tasks won't be cancelled for higher priority requests.
How Quickly Can I Receive Imagery After Tasking?
Once your tasking request is accepted and collected, imagery is automatically processed and delivered as fast as possible. There are no manual processing delays. Delivery timeframes depend on downlink opportunities, processing queue, and collection complexity.
What Security Measures Protect My Tasking And Data?
All tasking is anonymized using randomly generated universally unique identifiers (UUIDs). Commands are encrypted in AWS GovCloud FedRAMP High environment before uplink. Data remains encrypted during downlink, processing, and at rest. The endpoint intrusion detection system is monitored 24/7/365 by security operations center.
How Does API Integration Work?
Capella API provides RESTful endpoints for programmatic search, tasking, and delivery. STAC-compliant metadata enables seamless integration with existing geospatial workflows. Configure automated delivery to your AWS S3 buckets or pull data directly via API. Developers can build custom automation and analytics workflows. API-first architecture reduces manual latency and enables multi-source intelligence fusion.
What Happens If My Tasking Request Is Rejected?
If a request is rejected, you can adjust parameters (extended window, different tier, flexible geometry) and resubmit. You can cancel existing accepted tasks and use the "Retask" functionality to resubmit the rejected request with same parameters.
